Just like humans have remedies that can be used to cure some of their illnesses so do dogs. However, in order to use these remedies that will be discussed below you must first know your best friend like the back of your hand. This means that you must be able to tell when your pet needs to go to the vet and when it is something that the two of you can get rid of on your own without any outside help. If you are able to master that successfully then these home remedies can cut back some unnecessary trips to the vet.

Dog Illnesses• Mineral Oil: If you find out that your best friend has ear mites there is no need to rush off to the hospital. Instead you can fix the problem yourself with some mineral oil. All you have to do is soak a cotton ball with the oil and swab out their ear canal. Once you do this they will feel immediate relief from the itchy and the mites should go away as well. However, if you notice they have not gone away then you will want to schedule an appointment with the vet.

• Water and Baking Soda: If your dog has been bitten by an insect do not become alarmed. Instead just mix some water and baking soda together. Then you can use a cotton ball to apply the mixture to the bite. The best part about this remedy is the fact that it works quite well for humans also.

• Caned Puree Pumpkin: If your dog ever becomes constipated or is experiencing diarrhea caned puree pumpkins will get them functioning normally again. All it takes is a couple of teaspoons and your furry friend will be back to normal.

• Vinegar: Vinegar is a great alternative when it comes to buying expensive odor products for dogs to mask their odor. Instead, when you are giving your dog a bath add a few teaspoons of vinegar to their bath water and you will notice a difference in the way they smell. Also, amazingly this home remedy will keep them smelling fresher for a longer amount of time. For maximum results whenever you are brushing your dog sprinkle some baking soda on their coat and brush it in.

• Flour: If while cutting your dogs nails you happen to cut them to low and it begins to bleed do not become frantic. Instead all you have to do is put their paw in a bowl of flour while making sure that the flour gets into their nail core.

Overall, trips to the vet can be very costly. With the way the economy is right now everyone doesn’t have the money to take their beloved furry pals to the vet for every minor condition. However, this is not a real big issue because there are a ton of remedies out there that have been proven to keep dogs well. But, on the other hand if it is something serious you will have to take your pet to the vet.
